The SM& Real Estate Team was proud to spend an afternoon volunteering at Cradles to Crayons, a local non-profit organization that helps over 145,000 children in need. Every year, Cradles provides daily essentials in a “kid pack” to ensure kids thrive in school, at home and when taking part in recreational activities. The packs include items, such as clothing, shoes, books and toys. Our team had the chance to put together some “kid packs” while having a lot of fun giving back.
We visited the enormous Giving Factory in Brighton where we worked in different groups at one of their stations: sizing, sorting, toys and shopping. At each station, we were responsible for organizing donations for children of different ages.
At SM&, we believe in giving back and having fun. Impact studies have shown that volunteering with your colleagues increases workplace sentiment because the happiness you feel from helping others transfers into the workplace, creating a happier and more productive work environment. Volunteering also strengthens workplace culture by fostering meaningful bonds between employees.

At the end of the shift, we were happy to learn that we each played a role in building 90 “kid packs” for kids in the Boston area.
