TWO COMMUNICATOR AWARDS
June 2007
The Communicator Awards is an international competition that recognizes excellence in the communications field, as judged by industry professionals, and SM& is honored to have received two more this year:
• Publicity - Newspaper Placement: SM& had been hired to create a complete integrated marketing campaign for Olmsted Green, a mixed-use, mixed-income community in development that is offering accessibly priced, energy-efficient quality homes in the heart of Boston on the 42-acre site of the former Boston State Hospital. For its work on behalf of the joint-venture development team, Lena New Boston, SM& was honored for placing a feature story on the environmental sustainability of this important development that appeared on the front page of The Boston Globe's Sunday real estate section.
• Writing - Speech: SM& won this award for crafting a lifetime-achievement award acceptance speech for New Boston Fund President & CEO Jerry L. Rappaport Jr. A business leader in the industry for more than 25 years and a pillar of both civic life and entrepreneurial spirit, Rappaport was last year recognized by the Real Estate Finance Association (REFA), a division of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB). From a pool of dozens of other distinguished leaders, he was chosen to receive the Robert S. Swain, Jr., Distinguished Service Award, which honored his lifelong innovations in the real estate industry and his community activism. While never veering from Rappaport's unique style, and in fact capturing a sense of his personality and beliefs, the speech conveyed New Boston Fund's new messaging and brand, setting the tone for the future of the company he stewards. While maintaining his sense of humility, the speech brought New Boston Fund's achievements and direction to life, and also showed gratitude to his audience, the community of partners and prospects in a network that he valued greatly.
