VICTOR D'ALLANT -- EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, SOCIAL EDGE
Victor d’Allant is a global media executive, cultural anthropologist and photo journalist who has worked for large corporations, international organizations and entrepreneurial startups in many parts of the world.
While his first social impact initiative included building a hen house in Burkina Faso, as Executive Director of Social Edge, he is now responsible for building a global online community where social entrepreneurs, nonprofit professionals and other practitioners of the social sector connect to network, learn, inspire and share resources. Sponsored by the Skoll Foundation, Social Edge was launched in 2003 as a platform for individuals around the world to discuss current issues, cutting-edge technologies, and proven strategies with other individuals who apply business practices to social responsibility.
Before his involvement in digital media, Victor built and ran his own international media consultancy, helping communications companies and technology-based ventures expand their global operations. He previously held leadership positions at AScribe, AudioBasket, and Reader's Digest in Europe and San Francisco. Prior to that, he worked as a cultural and business anthropologist and conducted field research in the Middle East, India and Burkina Faso. Victor started his career as a Paris-based photojournalist reporting on economic and social issues from Brazil, India, Turkey, Yemen, Burkina Faso and Bangladesh.
In his Mission Recognition interview, Victor discusses global social entrepreneurship, emphasizing how the secret to a successful social initiative is memorable story telling.
