We are pleased to announce the second installment of our Mission: Protection podcast series. This series of conversations explores crisis communications and why it is a critical component of safeguarding an organization's mission, reputation and bottom line. SM& has developed dozens of crisis plans for local, regional and national companies & organizations. Patrick O'Heffernan and Ashley McCown, who runs SM&'s Crisis Communications & Litigation Relations Practice, will lead guests through a stimulating discussion to reveal key crisis communications principles.

As President of SM&, Ashley works closely with organizations to create crisis teams, conduct internal crisis communications audits, and establish and/or refine crisis plans. She has played a key role in many sensitive and complex issues including bankruptcies, restructurings, downsizings, building failures, construction accidents, workplace violence, disease outbreaks, bio-terrorism, strikes, protests, fires, accusations of sexual harassment and abuse, and state and federal investigations. She often works in tandem with an organization’s leadership and boards, consultants and attorneys on public policy and legal issues.

A forceful presence and compelling voice, Ashley regularly speaks on crisis planning and management before industry associations and communications organizations. The media call upon her to comment on crises and litigation. She has appeared in regional dailies, trade publications and on TV and radio commenting on pressing issues for businesses and organizations.

Today's guest is Brett Holmgren, Senior Risk Management Consultant at Robert M. Currey & Associates. Brett works in diverse areas of risk management with an emphasis on Real Estate, Property and Casualty, Contract Compliance and Review, Liability Analysis and Emergency Response Planning/Business Continuity. Brett's collaborative Emergency Response work has been recognized by insurance carriers as the benchmark for evaluating high-rise office risk. Brett is a graduate of the College of Wooster in Ohio, a Cum Laude graduate of Suffolk University Law School, was admitted to both the Federal and Massachusetts Bar and is a Licensed Insurance Advisor.
