MASSACHUSETTS HEALTH CARE QUALITY AND COST COUNCIL LAUNCHES WEBSITE

MyHealthCareOptions, a first-in-the nation interactive website designed to promote transparency in the health care industry, had its official launch on Dec. 9, 2008. The website is the first to offer both comparative cost and quality information about medical procedures performed at Massachusetts hospitals and outpatient facilities. The goal: to help contain costs and improve the quality of care available to patients by educating them about their choices. Solomon McCown & Co., Inc. led the team that developed the website and the public launch. The collaborative team worked to ensure that the site is consumer friendly, easy to use, with information that is important to consumers. “Solomon McCown & Company is proud to have played a role in developing this site,” said Lauren Louison, senior vice president, Solomon McCown & Co., Inc. “This one of a kind website is quite an achievement and will be an extremely useful tool in helping consumers make informed decisions about their health care and letting them know what options are available.”

The launch of the MyHealthCareOptions website marks another important milestone in the implementation of health care reform. Currently, more than 442, 000 people have enrolled in health insurance programs since 2006, and Massachusetts now has the lowest rate of uninsured people in the country.

Secretary Bigby recognized our contribution in bringing the Commonwealth a consumer accessible website.
